ARE YOU HEARING THINGS?
Feb 07, 2025Cold weather is upon us and the first call we receive at Major League Pest is the sound of pitter patter going through the attic in the middle of the night.
Rats and mice are nocturnal (active at night) and what you hear or see when you flip the light switch on may be a rodent nesting in the attic or foraging in your kitchen.
Rodents love attics for shelter. They will move under insulation commonly, so the only sign of them is typically feces on insulation or ducting in the attic or inside the home or garage.
Mice can go through a hole the size of a dime, Rats can enter an opening the size of a quarter.
Roof vents, gables on roofs that intersect, gutters, downspouts, Attic vents and overhanging trees are all spaces that provide entry to the home. By the time they are discovered rodents have usually been established for some time.
Immediate trapping will alleviate the main population, but follow-up visits and, Exclusion (act of keeping out) work will be necessary to completely solve the problem by not only eliminating the rodents but also, sealing the home to keep them out for good. Rodents that enter the home may be coming from another home, structure or burrow. An exterior rodent service controls activity outside since rodents can follow scent trails where other rodents have entered the home and pest service will also eliminate fleas or mites that may hitchhike on them.
A general pest service combined with rodent control will provide the solution you need around your home to “Keep the rodents and bugs out”.
On day one your inspector will assess your home and property for rodents and insects. You can start with a rodent inspection and do a termite inspection to get a complete evaluation of the condition of the home.
An inspection includes integrated pest management recommendations (like plastic trash cans vs. metal cans if rats have chewed holes, or unsanitary conditions that attract them like dirty trash cans that could just be cleaned) into your report. We will look in your attic too. Be aware the Rodent inspection and Termite inspection are separate and come with separate reports so, if you want them done at the same time you only need to ask.
We are a local company so the technician you see, and the office staff you speak with are usually the same people you communicate with each service. Contact us Today!
