WHY DO I HAVE FLEAS?

Fleas are small, reddish-brown parasites with tube-like mouth-parts adapted to feeding on the blood of their hosts. Fleas drop many eggs in the places they infest. Eggs are typically deposited in animal fur, carpets or fabrics. These eggs can lay dormant for a year before hatching, typically brought on by warm weather, physical activity, or the presence of carbon dioxide.

Flea infestations are possible even for homeowners without pets. These pests can be introduced to a yard in a variety of ways if other pests like rats, rabbits or gophers are present. People can also bring them home by walking through an infested parks, trails or yards. It is important to treat a home inside and out when dealing with fleas, as well as have all animals in the home treated at the same time to avoid recontamination.

Fleas have a 4 stage life cycle: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Typical flea populations consist of 50% eggs, 35% larvae, 10% pupa and 5% adults. No chemical treatments are able to kill fleas in the egg or pupa stages. However, after hatching, fleas can be effectively treated with growth regulators and pesticides.

Major League Pest has the technology and training needed to not only treat adult fleas, but help eliminate all stages of fleas. Our dedication to safety ensures a custom-tailored solution best suited to your family, pets and surroundings.

We Take The Hassle Out Of PEst Control

Over-the-counter flea control products do not last long and therefore must be applied frequently, forcing you to spend more money on more products. The products a licensed professional company can utilize are much more effective than the products available to consumers. When homeowners do the math, they quickly realize that after purchasing the products and the time they spend applying them, they could have had a professional take care of the problem for the same or less amount of money.

Initial FLEA Control Service

Always prepare the interior of your home before a flea service by vacuuming all carpeted surfaces. Vacuuming will trigger the flea eggs to hatch because fleas are attracted to the heat and movement of the vacuum. If you wish to have your carpets cleaned, please do so before your first treatment as deep cleaning can remove treatment material and greatly reduce residual effectiveness. It is also a good idea to have your pets treated for fleas and wash all pet bedding. Once your pets are treated, they will not reintroduce fleas to the home.

The first pest service at your home is called the initial service.  Once completed, you will notice an immediate impact on the pest infestation levels around your home. Fleas will be flushed out and levels will be reduced. Flea eggs and pupa will continue to hatch after treatment and you may still see fleas between the initial service and the first regular service until control is achieved. We recommend vacuuming your floors every day after treatment for 2 weeks to eliminate as many flea eggs and pupa as possible. Heavy infestations of fleas will require an additional treatment 2-3 weeks after the initial treatment. Your first regular service will begin approximately one month after the initial service.

Regular FLEA Control Service

Your first regular service will break the life cycle of the insects around your home and help to prevent future infestations. Beginning a regular service program 30 days after the initial service is the key to permanently controlling pests around the home. Once you have had your first regular service, pest presence will be reduced to a minimum level. Through ongoing regular scheduled services, your home will continue to be pest free.
